Anything that you are willing to apply discipline and dedication to is transformational and rewarding. And when you hit a wall, take a break and walk around.

An appreciated teacher moved because her husband was stationed in a new place. My client asked me to come up with a lettering piece that could incorporate the names of the class and give a nod to being a military family. After some time and research, I pulled together this Arizona-shaped piece (thank you Ashley @modernaquarian!) with the year and grade that she taught and the phrase, "Home is where the heart is". I painted the flag using acrylic paint and the heart is a separate little wooden piece that I painted copper. All handlettered with a brush, a Posca marker, and a pencil. I finished it by sealing it and attaching hanging hardware and a deco screw so they can hang it when they receive it. Here's a look at the finished presentation of the blocks I prepared, lettered on, and sealed for my client's patio. Most times, finished products I deliver come ready to hang because I know the first thing I want to do with a new piece is hang it up! A for Ashley (Ashley White, @modernaquarian), who inspires me all the time with the love she has for her beautiful work, with her encouragement for the creative community here in Tucson, and with her humility. Thank you Ashley! ❤

#Uncial #calligraphy in #copper #paint from @arizonaartsupply, written with a paintbrush on a 5×7 #cedar block. Final word will spell #namaste, to be displayed on my client's #patio. Remember me? :) My studio migrated to a corner of my kitchen because I've been giving my living and dining space a bit of an update and also celebrating my shared birthday with my oldest son. Also, I made a video about my method for writing in #calligraphy on certificates of achievement that'll be up on IGTV soon. Any questions? Comments? You know what to do!
