Namaste Original Woodburing Piece

Namaste Woodburning

This was my first official woodburning project that I didn’t view as a practice piece. As you can see below, this is a shallow wood block you can buy at a craft store or make yourself if you’re so inclined. I love paper and wood and eventually when I have the time, I will learn more … Continue reading Namaste Woodburning

Koi Fish Woodburning

A few months ago, Jonathan Estrin over at Grind Skate Club posted a photo of a woodburning he did of a koi fish. I liked it and commented on it and he asked if I’d like to do some lettering around it. We’d previously talked about collaborating on a piece and I’m happy that this is the … Continue reading Koi Fish Woodburning

Twin Birthday Party Invitation by Case Sensitive Designs LLC

Pumpkin Birthday Invitation

I designed this invitation for a twin first birthday party! They were born at the end of November and their mother, Jenny, was inspired by all the fall colors, leaves, and of course pumpkins! This was my first official invitation design job. Jenny asked me months ago about work for her twin daughters’ first birthday … Continue reading Pumpkin Birthday Invitation

Santa Letters

Here we are at that wonderful time of year again, coming up to us fast. Thanks to the generous and wonderful grandmothers my sons have in the family, the seed of Santa was planted in their hearts at a young age. Since then, I have done a fine job of encouraging this concept in our … Continue reading Santa Letters

Hand Carved Cedar Box

This box was one of the Christmas commissions I completed in 2015. The above thumbnails show the process from conception to completion. A friend got this cedar box from a friend of hers and schemed with me to turn it into a gift for her youngest daughter for the holiday.

“Kenzie” Custom Skateboard Deck

This was a fun project that was also a 2015 Christmas commission. The client came to me with the idea of lettering her daughter’s nickname on a skateboard to hang on her wall until she was ready to learn to skate. Since the board was already finished and ready to build, I sanded down the … Continue reading “Kenzie” Custom Skateboard Deck

Calligraphed Wedding Script for Musical Couple

I’d been wanting to do a project like this for a while when my friend Tristyn approached me about it. She was selected by some friends of hers to officiate their wedding in December 2015. Since they are all musicians, Tristyn wrote a lovely themed speech for the event. As a keepsake gift to the … Continue reading Calligraphed Wedding Script for Musical Couple

Friedrichs Wedding

What started as a small project — “Renee, will you write the numbers on the chalkboard painted wine bottles for the tables?” grew into, “Jessi, why don’t you let me letter the quotes you want to display in the corks of each?” and quickly spread to wedding signage and escort cards. It hit the books … Continue reading Friedrichs Wedding

Elyse

A fun watercolor with a bunch of little extras! I started by lettering the name and filling it in with watercolor. I saturated each letter and pulled the extra color up a few different times with blues and purples. Elyse loves dogs and music, color, and of course, owls. Since it was around October, I … Continue reading Elyse

Cyril Davis of Infinity Machine got Jaime LeAnn Edwards and I together at The Book Stop downtown to make this shoot he dreamed up a reality. This was another project that I jumped at the chance to do! Read the full write up and check out some of the progress shots here.

Hand Carved Memorial Frame for Beloved Pet

This is a picture frame that I customized for the owner of a dear departed pet. The couple supplied the frame and photo to me. The calligraphy is in a hand called Engrosser’s Script. I kept the letters clean and simple for this memorial piece. I started by drafting out the lettering; writing the name several times … Continue reading Hand Carved Memorial Frame for Beloved Pet

College Graduation Invitations

This was a calligraphy project completed in May 2016. The client, Chris Laria, graduated from the University of Arizona with a Master’s of Science in Planning. He asked for his name and degree to be lettered into each invitation to the graduation ceremony and the celebration afterward. The gothic script used for the lower case letters is called Textura Quadrata and is … Continue reading College Graduation Invitations

Dr. Seuss Excerpt. Original Watercolor and Calligraphy by Case Sensitive Designs LLC

Watercolor Dr. Seuss Exerpt

An inspirational commission to soothe a broken heart. This original watercolor served as a reminder that we are never so alone as we feel, complete with truffula trees to remind us of where we came from. Leave it to Dr. Seuss to convey such a grounding message in such whimsical and memorable language. I chose … Continue reading Watercolor Dr. Seuss Exerpt

Medieval Themed Graduation Gift

The inspiration for this gift was a replica of a suit of armor in the recipient’s office. His parents brought me a photo of him in his office, seated next to the replica. They asked me for something that would include a bible passage they chose and an angel wing in each corner. The couple also wanted likenesses of their son and … Continue reading Medieval Themed Graduation Gift

“Mountains” Wall Hanging for Nursery

“Let him sleep for when he wakes, he will move mountains.” Napoleon coined this phrase and it has been popping up in nurseries and online lately. This is my spin on it, with Lombardic inspired letters and woodblock themed artwork. My original idea was for the mountains to have geometric shapes and a forest … Continue reading “Mountains” Wall Hanging for Nursery

Lovegrove Wedding Certificate

What a treat it was to add the names to this wedding document! This was written in sumi ink with a Hunt 101 pointed flexible nib. Pete Lovegrove has the honor of officiating his son’s wedding this coming February. Many years of happiness to the newlyweds.

Watercolor Pumpkin Painting

Pumpkin Trio

Ohhhh I looooove pumpkins!! I love the character of their shape, the twist in the stem of each one, and how wide they are but how narrow and shapely each section is. This is a watercolor of a trio of them for a client. Glad she loves pumpkins as much as I do!   Prints … Continue reading Pumpkin Trio

Death is Nothing At All

The poem is from the perspective of the deceased, a comforting reminder of all the ways they never truly leave us.

Golden Escort Envelopes

Beautiful navy blue gouache on mini metallic envelopes spell out names of guests for an escort display at an October wedding in Tucson. Custom mixed color, all calligraphy by hand! Loved working on this one. Each escort envelope features the guests’ names, handwritten with a pointed flexible nib. Inside each envelope is a white … Continue reading Golden Escort Envelopes

Laughter Sparkles Like Sunshine

My client, Cindy, asked if I could “do something” for her. She brought this phrase to me, written on a blank page of a checkbook register. She said she was starting early this year gathering Christmas gifts. This piece turned out larger than I’d planned — typically I work in small intricate pages. I … Continue reading Laughter Sparkles Like Sunshine

Sunshine and Moonshine Set

Simple line drawings that I intended to be tattoo designs, these turned out much larger than I thought they would! A radiant sunshine emerges from behind clouds, while a crescent moon shines in the sky. Each print measures 6″ x 6″. In the photo, each is matted and framed in an 8″ x 8″ frame.
