I’d been wanting to do a project like this for a while when my friend Tristyn approached me about it. She was selected by some friends of hers to officiate their wedding in December 2015. Since they are all musicians, Tristyn wrote a lovely themed speech for the event. As a keepsake gift to the bride and groom, she wanted her words calligraphed onto staff paper. I jumped at the chance!
I spent some quality time at my light table working on it! The lines of the staff paper lined up perfectly with those of the guide sheet, which made the lettering a breeze. I chose sumi ink because it’s nice and thick and doesn’t bleed and a pointed nib for a somewhat loose cursive for the script. It truly was a pleasure to calligraph something heartfelt for such an important day as a wedding day. Can’t wait for the next time I get to do something like this.
